For this morning's meeting scheduled at the client's office at 10am, we decided that as a change from our usual sedentary lifestyle, we would ixnay on driving/cabbing it and walk from our office to the client's, a mere 10-15 minute walk down the road to Lebuh Ampang.
As we stepped out into the steamy hot morning sun, I fleetingly recalled a moment during the usual madcap transfer from my bedroom to the office this morning, as I slipped on my terribly uncomfortable but terrible stylish 4-inch black slingbacks- "Did KT say we would be walking or driving?"
At about 9:40, I was cursing silently under my breath, teetering precariously on the uneven pavement, trying not to fall into the longkang.
We took a shortcut to the client's office, snaking through the hidden alleyways of food stalls, dotted with hungry patrons looking for a quick breakfast.
There were dozens of these stalls, cool and shaded from the sun and dusty roadside. The air permeated with the delicious smell of mee goreng being fried by an authentic mamak, who looked curiously at our little procession.
After a visual feast of nasi lemak packets, steaming bowls of bakuteh, piping hot curry puffs and mounds of freshly cut fruit, I arrived at the client's office, ravenous (with aching feet).
