Raya + Johor = Tired

She ain't heavy she's my (pregnant) sister...

My week off during Raya holidays was mostly spent ferrying my preggers sister to different open houses and social functions, eating a lot of rendang and ketupat, running errands, and screaming at each other a number of times at the top of our lungs while slamming doors in each others faces over really silly silly things (sorry Naz).

I guess despite being in my mid-twenties and Naz, in her early thirties, not only will we continue to argue heatedly with each other, like we did as teenagers over borrowed clothes and who gets more space in the backseat of the car , we will also continue supporting each other, despite the geographical distance between us. After all, other than our parents, we are each other’s only other answers when it comes to witnessing every chapter of our lives.

(As you can tell I’ve been watching too many episodes of the realistically dysfunctional Brothers & Sisters. Sniff. It’s just too good!)

I recall my dad explaining the law of the land when it came to sibling relations when we were younger:

Me: Papa, what are older sisters for?
Papa: Older sisters are meant for bullying younger sisters.
Me: And what are younger sisters for?
Papa: Younger sisters are there for older sisters to bully.

Thus, laying the groundwork for years of sisterly fun…

Spent most of last week in Johor for a department retreat, entailing a lethal combination of hardcore work (strategic planning for next year) and hardcore partying (inebriated group karaoke performances). Suffice to say, I arrived home on Saturday afternoon with good intentions to attend a number of Raya open house invitations, only to crash out, stone cold on my couch, waking up bleary eyed at about 9pm (again, sorry).

Sunday was spent catching up with A, more episodes of Brothers & Sisters and jogging around Taman TAR. – overdid it as per usual over the Raya holidays and in dire need to get back on the treadmill!

Now it’s back to the regularly scheduled program i.e. attending to the mini Mt. Kinabalu of work on my desk, gymming, lunching/gossiping with Mudsters, Sunday Thosai breakfasts with A, and trying not to shop after work in KLCC.

P.S I think my mullet is no more and has officially grown out. I am finally no longer an 80’s trailer park love child.
