A Smile In The Sky

Is that you, Lucy?

A few nights a go, A and I were driving down the elevated highway from Ampang towards town. Looking up at the sky, we caught sight of the moon in rare crescent form, and right above it, two brightly lit shining stars. There it was, against the dark, smog filled, KL night sky, a wry, almost shy, smiley face, peering down over the city.

A few days later, newspapers reported that the face was made up of the celestial trifecta of Venus, Jupiter and the waxing Moon, in rare cosmic alignment which could be seen smiling down on cities across the world, all the way from New York to the polluted skies of Hong Kong.

Perhaps its during these troubled times, as the world tries to re-group and recover from the worst financial crisis seen since the Great Depression, one could interpret the wry smiley face in the sky as a reminder of how small our current troubles are in the grand scheme of things, that being the Universe and all of its unknowns, and that maybe, things will be okay in the end.
