Don't you just love the energy of the holiday season? The December month running up to the holidays was a blur of piles of work, birthday drinks, Xmas parties (inevitably followed by repeated halfhearted vows to never ever go out partying EVER again), entertaining visits from old friends, more last minute work before finding myself with just 1 hour to haphazardly toss some clothes into a suitcase and hop onto my connecting flight to Dubai on Wednesday night. Whew!
And now I am in white chocolate-covered Moscow. Have been lazily recuperating from the hectic year, nestled on my dad's favorite arm chair (much to his dismay) while flipping through Sky Digital. Oh alright, I've been mostly watching the UKTV Food Network. Yesterday I found myself running on my Ma's treadmill - a token effort of exercise - whilesalivating watching Nigella cook up a calorie-fest of an Xmas dinner. Xmas pudding! Turkey! Stuffing! Brussel Sprouts! Trifle! Mince pies! (yuck). In my next life I think I would like to be a celebrity chef. All this while indulging in my Ma's homecooking. Food glorious food!
Today the family went to somewhere me and A use to fondly refer to as The Coldest Place On Earth, otherwise known as Izmailovsky Market.

Izmailovsky Market: If Hell Froze Over
The last time me and A visited Moscow back in February 2006, the weather hovered around -26 degrees Celsius, sending my parents running back to the car after 15 minutes in the freezing cold market to tend to their frozen toes. Me and A braved the dipping temperature, all in the name of souvenir shopping. Today was a promising -6 degrees.
Street Food: Kind of like the Russian Ramly Burger
Xmas beckons in a few days! Not sure if we'll be having the requisite Turkey dinner as 1 Turkey + 3 people = leftovers until Chinese New Year. Apres Xmas, we'll be visiting my preggers sister + her hubby in Geneva, then just a hop, skip and flight away to Londres, where A will be joining us for New Year, but most importantly, Boxing Day sales, heh.
2007 has been a rewarding year, I am blessed. Selamat Hari Haji, Merry Xmas, Happy New Years and Happy Holidays to everyone!
