Finally, I am back in my office, enjoying the little creature comforts of server access and my San Fransisco latte. For the past month or so since coming back from the holidays, I’ve been flying back and forth between KL and Jakarta for a project I’m working on. Unfortunately, the arrangement is more exhausting and less glamorous. Jetset it is not: I haven’t had much time to explore the city and have spent most of my time shacked up in the office in front of my laptop, or in my lonely hotel room at the Four Seasons in the company of a rather disappointing Club Sandwich, or shuttling in between the two through the horrendous Jakarta traffic.
Otherwise, the work is quite exciting, and has motivated me to carve out for myself the sector I’d like to focus on for the next few years of professional career. That is before I quit the corporate life to pursue my indulgent little dream of opening up a cute little clothing boutique / tea room specializing in desserts / bookstore (one can dream).
With all the travelling I’ve been doing, the iPod has been quite handy in terms of being stuck in the traffic, the 30 minute ride on KLIA Ekspres, depressing MAS flights that serves the same gross meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner (roti canai, roti jala, sad looking omelet, grilled fish, chicken redang, or spinach lasagna), or just general waiting in the lounge at the airport.
10 songs in rotation:
1. Standing in the Way of Control – The Gossip (big fat girl befriends Kate Moss and punk rocks hard)
2. Handle Me – Robyn (pop princess makes her return with cool edgy pop)
3. Defying Gravity – Wicked, The Musical, Original Soundtrack (campy goosebump inducing closing song to the first half of the wicked musical)
4. Anyone Else But You – The Moldy Peaches (cute love song from the Juno OST)
5. Please Don’t Stop The Music – Rhianna (makes you want to shake your bootie on the dancefloor)
6. Hurry Up – Che’nelle (home-grown Reggaeton!)
7. Love Generation – Bob Sinclair feat. Gary Pine (Koh Phangan crew anthem from the Black Moon festival. Woo!)
8. Don’t Stand So Close To Me – Sting & The Police (damn all of you who went down to Singers to watch the Po-po live in concert!)
9. So You Say – Siobhan Donaghy (ginger-haired ex-Sugababe gone ethereal pop)
10. Naked As We Came – Iron and Wine (from Grey’s Anatomy OST)
So tell me, what do you listen to when you travel?

really? i thought jetsetting like that would be cool. i'd rather be doing that than stuck in kl for eternity.
my have a constantly changing playlist for my travels. used to listen to it as well while commuting to work, but nowadays i just read.
I listen to a lot of Amy Winehouse esp from the previous album and Psapp.
banker: careful what you wish for. It is so not the life. Stick to being behind the till, it's way better.
